If your payroll is under £3 million per year, you're a non-levy employer. This means you don't have a separate apprenticeship levy account and enjoy simpler, subsidised funding from the government.
The government pays 95% of apprenticeship training costs. From 2026/27, under-25 apprentices are completely free to train—government covers 100%. No payment needed from you for those cohorts.
For apprentices over 25, or during the transition period, you contribute 5% of training costs. This is billed monthly, spreading the cost across the apprenticeship duration. No lump sums, no upfront fees.
